Dr. Arun Netravali's Academic and Professional Career:
Dr. Arun Netravali was an adjunct professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has handled graduate courses at City College, Columbia University and Rutgers University.
He has served on the editorial board of the IEEE, and is an editor of several other journals. He is also a member on the board of different organizations.
From 1999 to 2001, Dr. Netravali served as the president of Bell Labs. During this period, he was also Lucent's chief technology officer and chief network architect. Under his leadership, Lucent dramatically increased the speed with which it was able to move innovations from lab to market.
From January 2002 to April 2003, he was Lucent's chief scientist, working with the academic and investment communities to identify important (new) networking technologies and advising Lucent's senior management on technical and customer issues.
He was the Director of Agere Systems from July 2004. From November 2004, he has been the managing partner of OmniCapital Group LLC, a venture capital firm. He is currently on the board of Level 3 Communications Inc., and also on the advisory board of Veridicom International Inc.
